I am having exactly the same problem with my 1994 Pathfinder. I took it
to the shop and all they told me was that the diagnostics fed back "Code
51" which could be a multitdure of things. Did you ever find out what
was broken?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try checking the engine grounds. If the injector has trouble grounding
itself, the comp will see that as 'open'. The time this will be the
worst is when the engine is in open loop mode during warmup. It fires
all injectors together then, and you will end up with 4 or 6 times the
current, depending on your engine. Don't know where the grounds are or
what code 51 means, but the FSM will tell you. If you don't have one,
get one. It seems expensive at first, but compared to a mechanic,
they're dirt cheap.

PS - With the FSM you can read your own codes w/ no mechanic and no
extra tools!

I have a 92 Sentra GA16 1.6L, 173300 miles. Never any major problems
until it started missing some at idle 500 miles ago; it got worse as
time went on. It also developed a ’click’ which I thought was a valve.
I did all the ignition replacements, fuel filter, air filter, checked
EGR etc. Called two Nissan dealers; they wanted 144.00 to diagnose
problem. Found a good local mechanic who did diagnosis including a
compression check; he replaced #3 injector. Cured the problem. I was
pleased and relieved to pay 198.00. I hope to get 250,000 miles out of
this Sentra.
Good luck.
