Default Brake Fluid

Hello Antoine and Friends,

absolutely in accord with Emanuel, the RR 363 is compulsory : some friends
of mine, considering the RR 363 isn't easy to find on the market here in
Italy, changed with some good brand brake fluids dot 4; they had after
some times a lot of problems, hight pressure pumps, and rubber particulars
(O Rings and gaskets) of the height control valves.

Personally, I use 363 only, and I replace the fluid every two years :
attention, we are speaking about brake fluid, not about windscreen washing !

The best for all, very friendly, Giancarlo.

Default Silver Shadows, Corniche, Camargue BRAKE FLUIDS

Personally I did a detailed research about brake fluids:
In origin there was different kinds of approved brake fluid for Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, Silver Shadow 1/2, Silver Shadow II, Silver Wraith II, Corniche, Camargue, Bentley T Type and Bentley T II Type.
On very early Silver Shadow and T Type with front & rear self leveling suspension there was a "amber" brake fluid with highly corrosive specific. Was in fact very common have leaking problems.
On Silver Shadow & Bentley T Type series 1/2 front self leveling suspension was removed and changed also brake fluid.
It was a less corrosive and more thermo-shock resistant "Castrol-Girling Green" brake fluid. It could be confused with the Total "LHM2" made for Citroen cars, but with different additives.
On late Rolls Royce & Bentley models since 1977 An all new brake-suspension system was fitted, so was introduced the modern "Castrol RR363". It is a very light brake fluid with an improved DOT4 , but with a particular additive to help brake pumps' lubrication. In case of emergency top up, it could be replaced with common brake fluid, but must be immediately replaced because a notmal fluid it may cause brake pumps failure.
Anyway every Rolls Royce - Bentley brake system must be drained after every two years to prevent leaking, corrosion, brakes fading or master cylinder failure.
Friendly regards, Enrico M. Allais.
