Default clutch question. need advice asap

Well... I have a 86 944 n/a

The first thing is the clutch was clunking and I know that I need a
new clutch as the rubber is probably non existant.

Now.... the new issue.
I poped the clutch and now it just clicks in any gear.
I hope that I have not totally destroyed the whole thing.

I want to replaced the clutch plate on sunday but am I heading down a
bad road? I only have Saturday night and Sunday to do the job and want
to drive the car on Monday. I think that I can do the job but my
question is, "what did I do to my Baby".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Signed
A very sad man.

Tod

you are VERY lucky that when you popped the clutch you only tore the center
out of the clutch - you could easily have destroyed the transmission also.

If you have the parts and a reasonable level of mechanical skill you can do
the job in 2 days - read the archives of this NG for hints - I posted some
as did others, get started early and don't rush. be sure your new clutch
has the spring center, never use a rubber centered clutch under any
circumstances.
Be sure you have the proper tools also, including the proper allen wrenches,
and be sure you read the porsche factory manual steps on doing this job

I've done a few, two days is enough time, but the first time out, I would
not attempt it in a single day

Default clutch question. need advice asap

I have decided not to rush the job. I will do the fix when I get back
from holidays.

Where would be a good place to order the clutch?

I will let you all know what falls out of the car when I take it
apart.

Thanks for the advice.
I am over the deial phase
past the anger phase
only acceptance is left.

Thanks again
