Default 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue - Knocking Sound

Recently, I’ve noticed that when I’m idling at a red light or stop
sign, there is a knocking sound coming from my car. I don’t hear the
knocking sound when I am in park. Please tell me what this could be
and if I’m about to be out of a lot of money. Thank you.
