I have a 3.2L motor in a 1979 SC. When cold, the engine stalls when you take your foot off of the accelerator, for example when you pull up at traffic lights. Once reached normal operating temp everything is fine. Is there a common fault, like warm up regulator or temperature sensor that could be considered the problem?

This sounds like a deceleration valve or a leak in the vacuum line going
to it. This valve is exactly for preventing a stall when you suddenly
lift the accelerator. On your engine, it's a flying-saucer shaped thing
on the right side of the engine waaay up toward the firewall. There are
two such things back there -- on is the aux air valve which is lower,
and the other is the decel valve, which is higher and hiding a little
more. The decel valve is the one that has a vacuum line coming out the
right side (the aux air valve has no fitting one one side). I'm betting
it's the vacuum line, especially if your engine still has the original
vacuum lines. If it does, you may find that replacing all of the vacuum
lines makes your engine run much better.
