Default 98 Taurus cooling problem

[SIZE=7]My 98 taurus has 129k miles and overheats... sometimes. I've tried to relate it to outside temp but sometimes it does it when its 75 and after a 20 mile highway / expressway drive or sometimes in the city. and when its 90 it'll do it all the time. this is only happening with the AC on. Turn a/c off and the car will keep temp at normal at any temperature outside.
I read that this may have 2 speed fans. How would I be able to detect it if there going on high or not??
HELP Please. Been to the dealer and he says this is a repeat problem and he doesn't know where to start but suggested that a radiator change out would cost about $900-1000. Too much for me
